Day 1 - Sun, 13th May 2007

4am - arrived at KL Puduraya bus station at 4am! what to do? took a nice morning stroll to Concorde Hotel where my good friend JH was sleeping..

the early morning air was good.. but the attention from the hookers along Jalan Bukit Bintang wasn't.. it was a good idea to hasten my pace..

Concorde Hotel (window view) - KL Tower

5am - waited at Concorde Hotel lobby.. JH actually woke up to bring me up to his room.. he's not so owly as i thought.. ahah.. at least i had a place to sleep until the sun came out..

10am - JH's gang went down for their buffet breakfast.. so poor me just remained in the room and entertained myself.. took some photos as well through the windows.. probably some of the places i would be visiting..

12pm - i went to check into Travelers Palm hostel while JH sent his gang home at the bus station.. the house was hard to find.. located along a small street off of Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin..

SUCCESS

first time staying in a traveler's hostel.. so i was on my toes.. the house-keeper was a nice young man though (i believe his name was Wan).. could not have asked for a better hostel for a first timer :)

i noticed a poster on the wall of our room (left).. it looked inspiring and that was the first photo i took in KL :)

Eye on Malaysia

6pm - after window shopping along Jalan Imbi.. it was time for dinner! we decided to go to Titiwangsa Lake Gardens.. where there's a giant ferris wheel called "Eye on Malaysia".. we had trouble finding food around the Titiwangsa station though.. and we settled for some malay cooked food.. this will not be the first time we have trouble finding food with a vegetarian pseudo brother around :p

we headed in the generally direction of the giant wheel.. Titiwangsa Lake Gardens lights up at night.. and all we had to do was to go towards the light beams aimed into the night skies.. like moths to fire.. not a short walk though.. we even had to cut through a private residential area to get there :p

the wheel looked mighty impressive.. wonder how the one in Singapore would compare? the ride appeared cheap so we boarded the wheel (RM15/pax).. too bad the skies were dark and misty with rain.. could not take any nice photos atop the wheel.. a total of 7 rounds in a single ride.. well worth the 15 RM but it started to get rather boring after the 3rd or 4th round..

after the ride.. JH and i took a "romantic" walk round the lake.. and we actually suggested walking back to Bukit Bintang from there.. 1 hour.. 2 hours.. mebbe 3.. we reached Bukit Nanas monorail station.. decided to give our legs a break.. it was only the first day so took the LRT back to Bukit Bintang.. we should conserve some energy and head back to our rooms to sleep..
