10am - i think we slept for nearly 12 hours
was enjoying our last moments on the bed.. check-out time again.. my bag was still the same size as i when i arrived in Malaysia.. did not buy much for myself.. JH's backpack was filled to the brim.. while his hand luggage was filled with biscuits.. which he bought with his friends before entering Genting Highlands..
so we took out time making sure nothing was missing or left behind and went down to check-out at the stroke of twelve ![]()
12nn - went off to look for brunch.. could not decide what to eat again.. we went through the streets of Little India.. nothing.. then went towards Chinatown.. many shops are closed because it was a Sunday morning! eventually we found a chinese cook house.. located right in front of a wet market.. their sheng mee (raw crispy noodles) appeared to be quite famous.. everyone else was having it.. so we ordered one.. i also ordered their specialty fried noodles.. JH also ordered his favorite vegetables (Baby Kailan).. they took a long time to serve the vegetables.. JH suggested the possibility that they could have ran out of the vegetables and went off to the market to get them.. hmm.. i think we finished 4-5 pots of crysanthemum tea before it finally came.. and we had to self-service to the hot-water dispenser to top-up our tea pot.. mebbe our longest meal in Penang.. the food was quite nice lah.. except for the long waiting time for that single dish..
so we headed to Komtar again.. we visited the shopping centre again.. this time it looked more lively.. not as "depressing" as the last time.. from the bus interchange over there.. planned to find the bus which goes to the Midlands Shopping Centre.. we got there.. went in.. another depressing shopping centre.. ahah..
2pm - we did find a gaming centre at the top floor of the shopping centre.. we paid for 2 hours of internet surfing.. we ended up playing MapleStory.. had not played it for maybe 2 to 3 years.. we got hoooked on the game again.. and agreed to play together when we returned home
this was probably one of the most entertaining and fulfilling 2 hours we spent in Penang.. ahah..
still had some time in hand.. planned to return to the inn at about 7pm.. so we explored the shopping center a bit.. entered a gift shop and took a really cute scene (right).. i really like this photo.. putting it as wallpaper of my handphone ![]()
4:30pm - it was time to start heading back and look for dinner.. we walked down the long stretch of Jalan Burma.. JH was hoping to find some vegetarian food of course.. walked a long way.. did not find any food.. did not know which bus to take.. was a pitiful time..
5:30pm - it was starting to get late.. so we stopped and got on a taxi instead.. took the cab to Chinatown where we had our dinner.. i had the hor fun and JH ordered the fried rice.. JH was either still hungry or wanted to do some last minute tasting of the Penang food.. so we walked around some more and JH got another bun.. and i tried the roadside wanton mee.. the noodles were tasty and sweet.. JH also took-away some yam cake to eat when waiting at Butterworth later in the night..
7pm - finally we returned to the inn.. the return coach leaves at 9pm.. we had to leave earlier in case the ferry service got delayed.. although the ferry ride was only 10 minutes..
i was waiting at the reception hall of the inn while JH went to the washroom to do his business.. i observed another young couple was checking out at the same time.. could tell that they were Singaporean.. apparently we had been staying in the same inn for the previous two nights which i did not realize until this time.. they were obviously in a rush for time.. they had hired a private cab which was already waiting outside on the street.. Jimmy was getting impatient at them and kept pushing them to move faster.. ahah.. and the young lady still had the cheek to go for a shower first.. Jimmy and Amy were obviously not impressed by their attitude.. no sense of urgency.. gave them a bad impression of Singaporeans.. i was sighing quietly at the side.. haiz.. lesson learned: go budget travel cannot bring woman along..
we headed on foot to the ferry terminal.. we were lucky to catch the ferry that has just arrived.. did not need to wait.. ahah.. so we actually arrived at Butterworth bus station much earlier than expected.. found ourselves a bench to place our things.. and started to eat the yam cake.. JH thinks the cake is really good as compared to Singapore.. well enjoy it while it lasts.. it won't be easy to get such cheap and good food in Singapore..
the coach also got delayed.. by about 15 minutes.. and after it moved off.. it stopped at several locations to pick up travelers at other offices.. will be a long night.. expecting around 9-10 hours of ride.. sleep sleep..
